Covid-19 is wreaking havoc on offices around the world. If you are new to working from home, allow me to share some of my tips with you.

I've been working from home for the last 7 years (whenever I'm not out producing timelapse content for clients) and have managed to make this work for myself quite well.

Get dressed

This may sound simple but a lot of people are tempted to stay in their pyjamas or wear their favourite comfy clothes. I highly recommend getting dressed to get in the right mindset. If it's safe to go outside, consider walking out and getting a coffee or tea. Fresh air in the morning will clear out any hazy brain fog that's still lingering around.

Get a good chair

If you don't have a decent chair to work from and you can't upgrade the one you have then consider getting a back support that you can attach to your existing chair. I was lucky enough to find a nice Eames replica office chair the other week and had a great time ‘renovating' it and upgrading it with better wheels.

Get a laptop riser

If you're working on a laptop make sure to get to screen as close to eye level as you can. Your back and neck will thank you for this. I use and am very happy with this very cheap laptop riser.

Get a keyboard and mouse

This could be added to the previous point, as it's about protecting your back and neck. I use Apple's ridiculously expensive wireless keyboard because I love the way it types and I use my old imac's magic mouse. I will soon upgrade to the best mouse I've ever used though (it's still in Sydney, my bad) the Logitech MX Master 3.

Get a drink bottle

You're probably going to be drinking too much coffee so make sure to #stayhydrated! I love the Camelbak Eddy drink bottle as it has a straw which means hands free drinking.

Stretch and move

Set an alarm for every hour to get up, walk around and do some light stretching. Ideal time to refill that water bottle as well!

Keep your desk clean

“A clean car drives faster” is something my dad once told me. I believe the same goes for your desk space: a clean desk works better. Keep your things organised and your working from home experience will feel much nicer!
