Last year I made a very popular video talking about how to timelapse with iPhone, using the built-in camera app.

The downside of that way of shooting is that the resolution is limited to Full HD, and we want 4K!

After trying a bunch of different apps I have concluded that Skyflow is the best iPhone timelapse app.

Skyflow is a user-friendly iPhone app designed to easily capture 4K timelapse videos.

Here's a step-by-step guide on how to use it, ensuring you get the best out of your iPhone timelapse app.

How to use Skyflow

1. Download Skyflow
– If you haven't already, download Skyflow from the App Store and install it on your iPhone.

2. Launch the App
– Open Skyflow from your home screen after installation to start using the iPhone timelapse app.

3. Set Timelapse Settings
– On the main screen, you’ll find options to customize your timelapse
– Interval: Set the time between shots (faster than one-second intervals are possible!)
– Duration: Choose how long you want to record for.
– Frame rate: Set the speed of playback (e.g., 24fps or 30fps).
– You can also enable HDR mode and control exposure settings for better quality in challenging lighting conditions.
– Dial in the number of frames and length of recording
– Decide between JPEG or JPEG+RAW captures. These features highlight how comprehensive the iPhone timelapse app can be.

5. Enable/Disable Auto Exposure and Focus
– Skyflow allows you to lock exposure and focus for consistent results, particularly useful for capturing scenes with changing light conditions. Tap the **AE/AF Lock** button if necessary to make the most of this iPhone timelapse app.

6. Start Recording
– Tap the **red record button** to start capturing your timelapse. The app will automatically capture images at the intervals you've set in your iPhone timelapse app.

7. Monitor and Stop Recording
– You’ll see a timer showing how long you've been recording and how many frames have been captured. Tap the record button again to stop when finished. This end-to-end process is streamlined by the iPhone timelapse app capabilities.

8. Preview and Export
– After recording, you can preview your timelapse video in the gallery section of the app.
– To export the video, tap the share icon and select the desired resolution and format before saving it to your camera roll or sharing it directly on social media.

That’s it! Using an app like Skyflow ensures you make the most of your device's capabilities.

As mentioned, I've done quite a bit of research on what is the best iPhone app for timelapse, and in my humble opinion it is Skyflow.

If you have other apps for me to check out please let me know.
